Introducing our new Town Councillors

Four Love's Farm residents stood for election and as there were four seats available, they were all elected unopposed. Here they introduce themselves:

Stephen Ferguson

FergusonI have lived on Love’s Farm for four years, after moving here from North London. Before arriving I scoured most of southern England in order to find the best place to live, and since moving here, I remain convinced that choosing St Neots was the correct decision. I was previously the Chairman of Governors of a SEN school in North London, leading them to their first Outstanding Ofsted, and raising over £250,000 for the school charity. I am an Aero Engineer and currently employed as a Marketing Director for an engineering software division of Siemens.

My most significant contribution to St Neots is as the founding Event Director of the new parkrun in Pocket park, which is tentatively due to start in June and will offer free communal running and walking experience to 300+ residents every Saturday morning. Pocket parkrun will have a significant impact on the health and wellbeing of St Neots as a whole, and will instantly become one of St Neots largest and most active communities.

I am passionate about St Neots, and especially representing “the new St Neots” of Love’s Farm and Wintringham. I am looking forward to serving our community as one of your Town Councillors.

Caroline Gregson

GregsonI moved to Love’s Farm with my husband and daughter (who attends the Round House) in 2013 from Blackheath in London and have continued to work as a energy and infrastructure lawyer in a large law firm, now commuting 2-3 days a week. My main hobby is playing tennis and I participate in the local leagues for St Neots Tennis Club where I have met new friends and learnt much about the surrounding area through the away matches.

I have been involved in a number of community initiatives: I was a founding trustee of Love’s Farm House and am currently a trustee of St Neots Aquatic and Leisure CIO which is the charity which owns the old swimming pool land on which Eat N Bowl is located.  We hope to facilitate further development on the site including a new indoor pool and splash park. I have also been a street rep and now co-ordinate Neighbourhood Watch for my street.

I hope that through being a town councillor, I will be able to give a voice to some under-represented groups, particularly women, and the new residents that will be moving into St Neots East. I’m particularly interested in local infrastructure and hope to use my legal skills in improving the procedures and efficiency of the council.

Ben Pitt

PittI moved to Love's Farm in 2012 with my wife Kirsty and our two children. Since 2014 I have lead a team of local residents to manage all aspects of our community centre, Love's Farm House. I’m a parent governor at the Round House school, and in 2017 became the chair of governors. I’m involved in St Neots Film Club, which runs monthly film screenings, film production workshops for children and the St Neots Film Festival. I’ve worked as a freelance journalist for over 20 years, writing about creative arts production, and am a keen amateur musician, photographer and filmmaker. Since 2017 I’ve worked for a local charity in community development.

I moved to Love’s Farm for practical reasons but I’ve come to really love living here. The people are friendly, fun and really look out for each other. I’m looking forward to using my time as your Town Councillor to encourage integration with Love’s Farm and the rest of St Neots, support the development of a thriving town centre and help to provide opportunities for quality housing, work, leisure, culture and community support — particularly for the people who often miss out on these opportunities.

Colin Holmes

Holmes I have lived on Loves Farm for four years with my wife and two children, who attend the Round House School. I’ve got to know many of the local faces and characters through the school, Loves Farm House, or Sunday evening football. I believe the vibrant community on Loves Farm is unique and I am proud to have the opportunity to represent it. I feel it’s vital for Love's Farm to have a loud voice and play a key role in the future growth and development of St Neots. I hope my experience in leadership training and organisation development can influence positive change in town.
